In 2007, Bookbinders Workshop discovered 128 original Cooper Square Gutenberg Bibles. Although these beautiful facsimiles were printed nearly 50 years ago, they had never been bound and the untrimmed sheets were found in their original boxes.

Drawing from solid historical precedence combined with sound principles of conservation, it was decided that the masterwork deserved a binding that was equally impressive as the printed text but must also be reflective of Gutenberg’s era.
